Field mobile

Keep the field and office in sync.

Give technicians the information they need where the work happens, including assignments, job details, time records, photos, notes, and completion updates.

Job information

Each technician sees only the jobs assigned to them. Unassigned calls and other technicians' work never appear on their phone. A job reaches the phone after the office assigns the call or the route stop to that technician.

  • Building name and address, with in-app driving directions
  • The on-site contact's name and phone number, with a Call button
  • The office's problem summary, call notes and task notes
  • Planned parts from the office
  • Job type, scheduled time and the dispatch or call reference
  • Route work grouped into the technician's routes, with their stops

Time and activity

Technicians start and finish each job on the phone, and the server records the times. The duration is calculated by the server, not the phone, and time spent paused or on hold is taken out of the worked time.

  • Start, Pause, Hold, Resume and Finish on the phone
  • One office Time Log per job, opened on start and closed on finish
  • One running job at a time for each technician
  • Unusual durations flagged for office review instead of being silently changed
  • A weekly timesheet on the phone, built from the job records
  • An activity feed of the technician's job events and sign-ins

Photos and documentation

Before a job is submitted, the technician writes what was done and rates the condition of the equipment. The finish flow will not submit the job without both. Work Done, the condition rating, the parts used and the signer's printed name are saved with the job on the server when it is submitted.

  • Work Done notes and a condition rating, required before submission
  • Parts used, saved with the job
  • The signer's printed name, saved with the job
  • Photos taken with the in-app camera or picked from the photo library, attached to the job on the phone
  • Personal notes and voice notes, kept for the technician

Office connectivity

A submitted job comes back to the office's Dispatches board as in review, and is only marked completed when the office approves it. The field time and the Work Done notes appear in the office's Time Logs and on the dispatch record.

  • The office approves the work or returns it
  • A returned job shows Needs correction on the phone and can be restarted
  • The office Time Logs show the field time and Work Done notes from the server record
  • The dispatch record shows a Field Execution card with actual start, finish and total time, plus the Work Done notes
  • Retrying a submission never posts the same job twice

Field-friendly experience

The field app is a phone app for iPhone and Android, laid out for portrait use. Touch targets are large, the main action is pinned to the bottom of the screen, and every job carries a plain status: Not started, In progress, In review, Needs correction or Completed.

  • A sync status on each job once it is started, and a Sync Queue that shows whether work is Synced, Syncing, Pending sync or Sync failed and explains each item in plain words
  • A confirmation of the recorded worked time when a job is submitted
  • A guided finish flow (work, condition, parts, photos, signature, review) that explains why a step cannot continue and resumes where the technician left off
  • Light and dark appearance, an in-app text size setting, reduced-motion support and screen-reader labels
  • Sign-in with a company code, Face ID or fingerprint unlock, and SMS one-time codes

How it works

Five steps from assignment to office review.

The office assigns the job. The technician does and records the work on the phone, and the office reviews what comes back.

  1. Assigned job

The office assigns an incident call, or schedules a route stop, with the building, address, notes and planned parts, and for a call the site contact. It appears in that technician's job list, and in their route for route work, the next time the list refreshes.

  2. On-site work

The technician opens the job, drives there with in-app directions and taps Start. The server opens the job's Time Log. Pause, Hold and Resume are recorded.

  3. Documentation

In the guided finish flow the technician writes Work Done and rates the equipment condition, both required, lists the parts used, and can attach photos and add the signer's printed name.

  4. Submission

Finishing sends the finish time, Work Done, condition, parts and signer's name. The server works out the duration, closes the Time Log, and the phone confirms the worked time.

  5. Office review

The job shows as in review on the office Dispatches board, where it is approved or returned. Start, finish, duration and Work Done appear in Time Logs and on the dispatch record.
